Vivo Infusion Advanced Practitioner:

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join our team of dynamic healthcare professionals in Royersford, PA! The pharmacist in this role will be responsible for the successful operation of pharmacy functions while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, as well as State and Federal laws. The pharmacist will demonstrate excellent customer service and servant leadership in all interactions and embody the mission and values of the organization. In this role, the pharmacist will be operate a closed-door pharmacy to service Vivo Infusion patients with Specialty medications at Vivo’s Ambulatory Infusion Centers located throughout the United States. Vivo specializes in complex biologic medications that do not require sterile compounding.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Performing the duties of a Specialty Pharmacist in compliance with internal policy, state, and federal regulations. The Pharmacist will assume accountability for the delivery of safe, clinically effective, and compliant pharmacy care.
  • Accurately review and interpret prescriptions received from referring providers.
  • Prepare and dispense medication.
  • Ensure that no drug duplication or drug-to-drug interaction exists and ensure that the patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed.
  • Coordinate closely with the Vivo Patient Services and Clinical teams to ensure that all medication dispensed to Vivo patients arrives on time in accordance with the prescribing provider’s order and is appropriately packaged and labeled to ensure cold-chain custody and medication integrity.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and navigate third party prior authorization processes successfully.
  • Perform test claims as needed to validate patient benefits and ensure Vivo will be paid for dispensed medications.
  • Provide guidance to infusion on-site clinical teams when appropriate.
  • Oversee the ordering, storing, receiving and distribution processes of the pharmacy’s medication supplies. Coordinate closely with the finance and purchasing team to ensure that medication is purchased at the lowest possible acquisition cost.
  • Maintain clinical competency in compliance with regulatory policies and accepted industry standards as described by accrediting agencies to deliver pharmaceutical services at the highest possible level of clinical quality.
  • Respond to and prepare any external audit or record requests and complete internal audit procedures at the request of the company Compliance Officer.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with accepted standards in pharmaceutical software. Maintain records in accordance with state and CMS requirements.
  • Review and approve medication orders and plans of care.
  • Counsel patients as needed by providing medication and disease state specific information to patients. Ensure patients have a clear understanding of the importance of maintaining medication adherence.
  • Ensure that all documentation necessary to support the billing process is completed and available in a timely manner.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practices and required licensure.
  • Work to achieve business objectives and grow the economic results of the Pharmacy by supporting the entire team in execution of their responsibilities, discovering opportunities for additional growth and effectively and efficiently providing pharmacy services.

Additional duties and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrating best practices through actions, and services delivered, all while acting as a Servant Leader.
  • Assist with the search, interview process and hiring of a pharmacy technician.
  • Supervise and drive performance, coach and develop team members, address any performance issues or required remedial action in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide regular feedback specific to SMG outcomes, support ongoing employee development, training and continuing education.
  • Approve timecards, time off requests and conduct regular team and one-on-one meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Must have active, current Pharmacy license as required by the state where practicing and other non-resident states in which the individual maintains a license.
  • Experience with dispensing infusible biologic medications, limited distribution medications and other specialty medications.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others – up, down, and across the organization, as well as with both internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
