Vivo Infusion Certified Medical Assistant:

At Vivo Infusion, The Pharmacy Authorization Specialist will be responsible for coordination of all Pharmacy infusion cases inclusive of order intake, authorization submissions, test claim completion, appeal submissions, case financial model creation and scheduling. He or she will demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service in all interactions and embody the mission and values of the organization.

Success in this role results in high quality service provided to internal teammates, referring providers and our patients. Additionally successful completion of this role results in reduced turnaround times from the receipt of order to infusion completion, growing volume of specialty pharmacy infusion patients and increased conversion rates of received referrals to completed infusion.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Take directions from pharmacists to ensure successful intake of all new specialty pharmacy cases.
  • Responsible for the overall success of pre-appointment activities associated with Healthcare Evolution (HCEV) Pharmacy infusion cases.
  • Ensure that all documentation is properly performed within the intake system, pharmacy operations system and clinical workflow system.
  • Communicate with Patient Services team via company procedures to verify and validate patient and medication eligibility.
  • Communicate to patient services team, clinical operations team and patients as needed to notify them of any relevant information relative to case completion.
  • Communicate and coordinate with HCEV pharmacist and pharmacist technician to ensure medication arrives on site prior to appointments and is received by a Vivo team member so that cold chain custody is maintained.
  • Monitor and work to improve processes surrounding specialty pharmacy case completion at HCEV.
  • Complete all pre-authorization activities associated with HCEV infusion patients.
  • Submit appeals as needed for pharmacy infusion patients.
  • Collect co-pay amounts for all pharmacy infusion patients. Coordinate with PROs to ensure that all APP applications are completed prior to appointments.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience working for physician practices or pharmacy operations required.
  • Experience and expertise in medication authorization processes preferred.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others – up, down, and across the organization, as well as with both internal and external customers.
  • Stronger consideration given to individuals that have worked as a pharmacy technician.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • College education preferred but not required.
