COMPENSATION: $60 -$65/Hr

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Advance Practitioner is responsible for overseeing the infusion care provided by nurses within the physician based ambulatory infusion center, as well as creating and maintaining plans of care for all patients referred to the infusion center. The Advance Practitioner provides support to nurses administering the infusions and evaluates patient’s needs during infusions as needed. The Advance Practitioner acts as the primary clinical conduit between the referring physician’s office and the infusion center. This individual provides safe, effective, and compassionate care that is consistent with State and Federal regulations and Company policies, procedures and guidelines and within his/her scope of practice.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and evaluates clinical information provided by referring physician offices and admits appropriate patients for infusion.
  • Evaluates newly referred patients and develops initial plans of care.
  • Monitors plans of care and makes necessary changes
  • Performs pertinent physicals exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patients and confirms suitability for infusion.
  • Reviews all lab reports provided by the referring physician.
  • Requests diagnostic and lab studies of the referring physician upon evaluation of the patient as needed.
  • Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
  • Consults with the supervising Medical Director as is necessary.
  • Documents infusion orders in the electronic medical record.
  • Dictates or documents notes in the electronic medical record.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes company quality outcome initiatives.
  • Delegates responsibilities to staff nurses on duty.
  • Follows company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.
  • Carries out all duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provides patient education and answers questions from prospective patients and referring physicians.
  • Enforces all HIPAA compliance guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant in the state in which service is provided.
  • Must have current DEA license.
  • Rheumatology and/or infusion experience preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 years in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills to identify and address patient needs
  • Intermediate computer skills, MS Office
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently to deliver key results
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and high degree of professional ethic, knowledge of confidential and regulatory compliance practices.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving medical equipment. The employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to moderate.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color differentiation, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk and talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. He/she is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. Travel is minimal in this role.

The employee is required to use safety equipment as needed and required by law. This may include but is not limited to gowns, face shields, gloves, masks or other protective garments.
